After tearing my AC joint, I started working with Yannis and he’s been a shining light ever since. What makes him truly exceptional is his ability to treat injuries and symptoms, often within a single session. As a professional athlete, where injuries are a constant reality and every missed game matters, that kind of speed and effectiveness is invaluable.
Having worked with physios at every level of professional sport across multiple countries, I can say with confidence that Yannis is right up there with the very best in the business. If you want someone who gets you back to your best, fast, he’s your guy.

Yannis was instrumental in my return to play protocol while playing professional rugby in Seattle. I tore my ACL along with a few other ligaments in my knee.
Yannis is personable and qualified to the highest degree. Not only does he have the knowledge to back his skills, but he tailored my daily program based on how I felt. I was meant to return to the playing field in a 12 month timeframe, but Yannis was able to get me back in 7 months. I cannot recommend him enough and feel forever indebted for how he helped my rehab.

As a professional rugby union player with over a decade in the Super Rugby and international scene, I’ve dealt with my fair share of injuries — the nagging short-term ones that try to derail your week, the mid-term ones that test your patience, and the longer-term battles that feel like they’ll never end.
From the first time I saw Yannis with a tweaked hamstring right through to the more serious knee and shoulder injuries I’ve had, Yannis has poured an unbelievable amount of deep, thoughtful work into every single session. He doesn’t just treat the injury on the table; he treats the whole athlete. He listens — really listens — to how the injury is affecting my game, my movement patterns, my confidence, and even my headspace. That level of care and respect is rare.
What sets him apart is how he stays right beside you for the entire journey. Whether it’s acute management in the first 48 hours, building strength and stability through the middle weeks, or that final phase of sport-specific rehab where you’re itching to get back out there, Yannis is locked in. He’s the one adjusting the plan on the fly when something doesn’t feel quite right, pushing you when you need it, and pulling you back when you’re trying to rush it. He’s never made me feel like “just another player” — he treats every session like it’s his own career on the line.
Because of his expertise and genuine commitment, I’ve come back stronger and more confident every single time. I’ve trusted him with my body when it mattered most, and he’s never let me down. If you’re a rugby player (or any high-level athlete) looking for someone who truly gets it, Yannis Mavrommatakis is the guy.
Absolute top-tier physio and an even better human. Can’t recommend him highly enough.

Yannis built back my confidence and love that was lost after my high ankle sprain and surgery, to return back and enjoy my rugby at the highest stage. I’m grateful always! The companionship is unmatched. He loves his work which makes it easier for me to go in, get better and have a great day in the clinic. Yannis is a real legend in his game. I’m always learning a thing or two about how the body and muscles work before leaving the clinic. I’m forever blessed to have him, thank you for always looking out for me.

The first time I heard from Yannis was before I even set foot in Seattle — he texted me saying he’d be taking care of me through my rehab and already had a plan to get me ready for Round 1 of the 2024 season. At that point, I had just torn my quad, something I’d been struggling with for over a year. Honestly, I didn’t have much trust at first because of previous failed attempts to fix it.
But this man is a magician.
Since working with him, he got me back to a place where I could squat heavy again — and more importantly, do it healthy. I went through a lot of injuries during that first season, but he still managed to keep me on the field, even when I had my doubts. I ended up playing through to the end of the season, which was rare for me.
What really stood out about Yannis was his dedication to his craft, his skill and knowledge, and his genuine commitment to the people he works with. On top of that, he’s just a great person. That’s why I trusted him with any injury I had. I’ve played professionally for 15 years, and in the two years I worked with Yannis, he’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. I’d recommend him to anyone.

As a professional rugby player in Seattle, I’ve dealt with multiple high level injuries including ACL, MCL and meniscus reconstruction along with a shoulder surgery. Every step of the way, Yannis has been a critical part of getting me back to competing at the level my sport demands.
I’ve spent more time working with him than almost anyone other than my wife, and that speaks to both the intensity of the process and the consistency he brings every single day.
Yannis operates at a high level. He understands performance, not just recovery. He knows when to push, when to adapt, and how to keep you progressing when things are not linear. What separates him is his ability to manage both the physical and the mental sides of rehab, and the consistency he brings to it. He shows up early, even at 6am if that’s what it takes, and makes sure you stay locked in, accountable, and moving forward when it matters most.
I would not be competing at this level without him. If you are serious about your recovery and expect a high standard, Yannis is someone you want on your team.

Yannis is the definition of what it means to be a physio. He is affable and always willing to help no matter what time of the day it is. Couple that with his unmatched expertise in treating from the most basic injuries to the most complex injuries and you have one of the best physios that I have worked with over my 11 year career in professional rugby.
Yannis has been instrumental in keeping me on the field over the last 2 years. Treating me for my lower back, hamstring strains, ankle injuries and a fractured thumb, but most importantly sometimes just being there as a friend and someone to talk to when needed.
I couldn’t recommend Yannis enough!

Following my return from the 2024 Olympic Games, I underwent surgery for a sports hernia. Post-operatively, complications arose that led a second physician to recommend an additional surgical procedure. Upon consulting with Yannis, however, he developed a targeted rehabilitation plan that rendered further surgery unnecessary. Under his guidance, I went from facing another operation — one that would have cost me the entire season — to being fully recovered and competition ready within a matter of weeks. As a professional athlete who has competed in two Olympic Games, Yannis fundamentally changed the way I approach rehabilitation. His expertise and dedication are unlike anything I have experienced in my career.
